Prof. Dr. El-Beltagi currently serves as President of the International Drylands Development Commission (IDDC), Professor at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research for Arid Lands, Ain Shams University, and Chairman of the Food and Agriculture Research Council at the Academy of Scientific Research.
