ماعت: إلهة الحقيقة والعدالة والنظام

The event took place on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the headquarters of the Human Foundation.
Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty is the former Minister of Antiquities in Egypt and holder of the Italian order of chivalry (October 2004).
The lecture is about Maat, the Goddess of truth, justice and universal order, depicted as a lady with an ostrich feather on her head, representing justice. It was said that Goddess Maat controls the seasons of the year and the motion of the stars. That’s why Egypt was called in its ancient times: “The land of the Nile and Maat”.
Dr. Eldamaty obtained his PhD in Ancient Egyptian antiquities from the University of Trier. He was the Head of the International Council of Museums-Arab Countries Alliance (ICOM-ARAB), Member of the Antiquities Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture, Member of the International Association of Egyptologists, Member of the Egyptian Society of Historical Studies, Member of the Arab Archeologists Association, Board Member of Bibliotheca Alexandrina (January 2003), and Board Member of the Egyptian Museum. He has also participated as a member in establishing the Egyptian Civilization Website, in participation with IBM and The Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CultNat).
The General Egyptian Book Organization has published a book under the title: “The Queens of Egypt”. The book, authored by Dr. Mamdouh Aldamaty, discusses the life of Egyptian women and their role through different eras. The book focuses on the ancient times when women held significant positions in the Egyptian society, wherein some cases; they have even ruled the country. The book introduces the queens who have solely ruled Egypt from the time of Ancient Egyptians, through the Ptolemaic era, till the end of the Ayyubid and the beginning of the Mamluk era, when the great Shagaret Al-Dor was ruling Egypt.
